RANGE RULES
General Rules
1. Always point firearm in a safe direction, keep finger off trigger until ready to fire and be sure of your target and backstop.
2. Club member’s families have range privileges when accompanied by an adult club member. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a club member.
3. Club members may bring a friend(s) to the range with a limitation of 1 time per person who resides in Pampa and vicinity.
4. Club members are responsible for the actions of their guest.
5. The Range Officer or his designated assistant has complete charge of the range & their orders must be obeyed.
6. All shots will be fired down range and must be fired at approved targets with provided backstops.
7. All shots on the outdoor range must come to rest on range property.
8. All trash or other items brought by the shooter must be cleaned up after each use of the range.
9. Access to the ranges will be through the gates or doors by use of the combination lock provided by the club.
10. No fully automatic weapons are permitted on any range.
11. Any club member who observes another person breaking any of the rules has an obligation to report to club officers and the authorities to act in any manner he sees fit to correct this infringement. If any rules are broken, disciplinary action or other corrective actions will be taken after a vote of the members at a club meeting. It is noted that if any member is expelled from THE PAMPA RIFLE AND PISTOL CLUB, with any cause, the NRA and any affiliated gun clubs may also be notified.
12. Everyone must wear eye and hearing protection at all times when on the firing line.
13. No drugs or alcohol allowed on range property or anyone under the influence of drug or alcohol.
14. Hunting is not allowed on range property, many wildlife species use the range as their habitat.
15. No armor piercing ammunition may be fired on any range.
Indoor
Indoor Pistol Rules
1. ALL OF THE GENERAL RULES APPLY
2. Magazines must be out of semi-automatic pistols and actions open except when at the firing line or when encased.
3. Revolver actions must be open except when at the firing line or when encased.
4. All targets must be against the backstop.
5. Only paper targets, properly attached to the carriers and rolled all the way to the backstop, will be used at the indoor range.
6. No quick-draw or combat type practice will be allowed at the indoor range.
7. Only 22 rim-fire rifles or handguns of a standard pistol caliber can be used at the indoor range.
8. NO CENTERFIRE RIFLES CARTRIDGE WILL BE FIRED IN THE INDOOR PISTOL RANGE.
9. Shotguns of any kind are not allowed to be shot in the indoor range.
Rifle Range Rules
1. ALL OF THE GENERAL RULES APPLY
2. Treat every gun as if it were loaded.
3. Always keep the action open & unloaded except when ready to fire.
4. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
5. Know your firearm & your ammunition.
6. Be sure of your target and your backstop.
7. No alcohol or drugs or anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol is allowed on gun club property.
8. Instantly obey all firing line commands.
9. When leaving the firing line, make sure, doubly sure, that your gun is unloaded.
10. When someone is in front of the firing line, all actions MUST stop, firearms must be made safe with magazines removed and actions open. No handling of firearms while shooters are down range.
11. Spectators must remain clear and stay behind the shooters.
12. No shots will be fired at any object, except a properly placed target in front of the backstop.
13. No glass items will be used for target practice.
14. Any tin cans, boxes or other informal materials used for targets will be removed by the shooter.
15. Lock the gate when you enter and leave the outdoor range.
16. Shotguns of any kind are not allowed on the rifle range, only in designated area.
17. Outdoor range hours are from sunrise to sunset 7 days a week, unless posted.
18. 50 BMG are not allowed on the range.
Outdoor Pistol Range Rules
1. ALL OF THE GENERAL RULES APPLY.
2. Magazines must be out of semi-automatic pistols and actions open except when at the firing line or when encased.
3. Revolver actions must be open except when at the firing line or when encased.
4. All targets must be in front of a provided back stop.
5. No quick-draw or combat type practice will be allowed at the outdoor range.
6. NO CENTERFIRE RIFLES CARTRIDGE WILL BE FIRED ON THE PISTOL RANGE.
7. Shotguns of any kind are not allowed to be shot on pistol range, only in designated area.
8. Outdoor range hours are from sunrise to sunset 7 days a week, unless posted.
